A day to Remember

It was a day to remember on Sunday November 1st, 2009 when my mom took me downstairs to the basement where my dad did most of his art work. Tim and I couldn't believe what our eyes saw. He had tools (lots of them), paint supplies, metal art (covering wall to wall), and so much more. These pictures are where my dad spent most of his free time. He found a part of himself down in this basement. I still can remember my mom calling me saying that my dad was in the basement again, doing God knows what. I could picture him in his chair, engraving his medal art and smoking a cigarette. It felt like he was still there. You could smell him, see him working, and almost hear his laugh. I swear my dad is still living within that house/basement. One of the most precious things I found was a picture my dad kept on his work bench of me when I was a baby. It melted my heart and brought tears to my eye. Tim said that I was daddy's little girl and always will be.

Even though you are gone now Daddy, I know you live within my heart. You confirmed that for me on Sunday. I wish more than anything in this world that you were here with me today. I miss your smile and laugh. I miss all the talks that you had with me. I miss your friendship and your love. You will be forever missed and never forgotten.
